Overview
Start with Hello Week is a program led by Sandy Hook Promise. During this week children are encouraged to include others and find ways to make connections with peers. We plan to honor this national celebration the week of September 23-27. Throughout Start with Hello Week, West Vincent will introduce schoolwide initiatives and classroom lessons to help foster social emotional learning skills in our students.
Social Emotional Learning Day Assembly
We are kicking off our week with Social Emotional Learning Day. Each grade will have an assembly with an activity and discussion working on some of the themes that are central to West Vincent – having grit, including others, and working together. This is a wonderful opportunity to encourage our students to make friends with peers and form deeper connections. We will have themed days where students can show their school spirit by dressing up.
Food Drive
To show our kindness during Start with Hello week we are asking families to bring in a can or box of food to donate to the local foodbank. Please encourage your child to bring food into school next week to donate to those in need.
